DEAR WORSHIP LEADER

Have you ever thought to yourself… God wants me? Why me? ...and what for?

We all, at some point or another, believe assumptions, or lies rather, that God doesn’t want us.. Or can’t use us. Past is too wild. Family is too messed up. Not smart enough. Can’t play…don’t sing like so and so..

These assumptions typically come from past hurts and accusations. Maybe even “failed attempts” when we were confident with the call God had set before us.

From the moment we were born, the enemy has been whispering lies. Over time, these lies make us question ourselves, our futures, our family, and ultimately, God. If he can make you feel insecure, he has convinced you to also give up divine power.

The tactic of the enemy is to get you to hand over some of your authority..especially when you have leadership...and it typically starts with the same accusations that have you questioning your God-given talents, gifts, and anointing.

The good news is that the enemy only has the power you give. He must have your agreement for survival.

We get to, and must daily choose to, with God’s help, create a whole new thought process. We must remember that God does not speak in an accusational tone. He speaks from love. If you do not change the way you are thinking about yourself to line up with who God says you are, and who he says he is, you are actually living outside the truth and the will of God.

We all know that renewing our minds comes when we read, pray, fast, and worship.. Especially when we worship. For me personally, repetitive worship is not to convince God of who he is, but rather to convince every part of me who he is.. And ultimately who he says I am in Him.

So.. God Wants Me? YES! He does… and I believe He has called each of us to this place for a specific sound and worship.

When we get up to lead worship, it’s not just a normal Wednesday or Sunday. I believe that we find ourselves in the hard moments of life specifically so that we may be able to worship people out of theirs. He is using us because of the lives that hinge on our breakthroughs--the breakthroughs that come through our breakthroughs. He wants to multiply our personal victories.

Let me remind you of 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 // For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Together we must overcome our shame and stop believing the lies of the enemy. For our congregation. It is our responsibility to give them a new way to fight. The correct way to fight. With the authority God has given to us when we worship, as a body, and as individuals.

We can no longer lay down our authority because we feel incapable or worried. Lies create realities and time is up.. It is time to take back our yes and join it to God and who he says we are..

I want to ask you--what have you put on the shelf? What candle have you blown out the flame? What dream or desire, or calling, or goal have you said no to because you gave the enemy your yes and started believing his lies.

Remember that James 4:7 says--Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
